Grace Martine Tandon, known artistically as Daya, is an American singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist who has a net worth of $4 million. She was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on October 24, 1998.
Record label singer Artbeatz, Z Entertainment, and RED Distribution released their debut EP entitled Daya on September 4, 2015, alongside the single “Hide Away”, a song that reached number 23 on the Billboard Hot 100 list.
Family Life and Beginnings of Daya
Daya grew up in Pittsburgh, where she studied at Mt. Lebanon High School. At the age of three, Tandon began to learn to play the piano, finally turning it into a jazz piano at the age of eleven. By this time, she had also learned to play guitar, ukulele, saxophone, and flute.
At eleven, Daya entered as a student at the Accelerando Music Conservatory in Pittsburgh, part of Christina Chirumbolo, where she finally met the composer and producer Gino Barletta, who visited the school as a lecturer, took an interest in the young singer, and controlled her Progress until she invited her to Los Angeles in February 2015 to work on her first original material.
Musical trajectory of Daya
Daya’s career began when her parents accompanied her to Los Angeles to work with Gino Barletta, Brett McLaughlin, Britten Newbill and Noisecastle III at Paramount Recording Studios, a studio owned by Paramount Records, where she wrote and recorded her first single, “Hide Away “.
Barletta introduced Daya to Steve Zap of Z Entertainment. A veteran of radio promotions, Zap liked the song and was interested in helping to promote the singer, directing to form an independent label that called Artbeatz.
Daya released “Hide Away” through ArtBeatz / RED Distribution on April 22, 2015. The song was well received on the internet, with good reviews from a number of notable bloggers including Tyler Oakley and Perez Hilton, the latter commenting “There is something very special about Daya’s voice.” Jason Lipshutz of Billboard also featured a review on their official website, labeling it “a great debut.”
Following on with their successful debut, Daya released their self-titled EP on September 4, 2015, which features six songs. The EP debuted at number 161 on the Billboard 200, and its first single reached the 40th position of Billboards Pop Songs.
The music video for “Hide Away” was published on October 28, 2015. On the 30th of the same month, Daya released the physical version of his EP through the Target chain. By February 2016, the lyric video has achieved more 8.6 million views, while the song achieved platinum certification in sales.
Their second single is “Sit Still, Look Pretty”, while their first LP, which will bear the same name, hit the market on October 7, 2016.
