Celebrity News : Drake is currently touring Europe Boy Meets World Tour, and on his way to London where he has planned six concerts is leaving a lot of news, from possible free concerts to hints to Donald Trump. The latest news is that the Canadian allegedly asked a girl in the audience to remove his hijab.
The events occurred at the last concert. Showcasing his charisma, the singer was addressing various fans near the stage, distinguishing each of them so that the protagonists felt for a moment. What made the alarms jump was when he told a girl to take off her scarf and get out of that shit.
“You are wearing that scarf so sexy; you might want to take it off. You have to seduce this son of a bitch. You have to get out of that shit.”
It seems that the girl who received these words from Drake was of Muslim origin and instead of a normal scarf wore a hijab, a handkerchief with which Islamic women cover their heads. But in no video is the girl or Drake mentions at any time the hijab or make any reference to their religion. Even so, Twitter began to burn against the rapper as soon as the images came out.
But some users have wanted to go beyond criticism, and have decided to start a boycott against Drake as racist and misogynist. Without any evidence, it remains to be seen whether Drake meant a normal scarf or a hijab. Calling a Muslim’s hijab “that shit” and telling them to take it off is so disrespectful but let’s see Drake gets called out for it
This comment to one of his followers presents made all the alarms jump, to the point that the singer has been forced to issue a statement to deny that it is related to any thoughts close to Islamophobia.
“I make a point every night to my shows on tones of unity and love so, to find out that I am being used in a fake media story about me disrespecting Muslims is devastating to me. At my show in the 02 in London, I was talking to 4 women one of whom was wearing a jacket and a winter scarf; I made a comment about taking off the scarf because I enjoy friendly banter with the fans. I am well aware of what a hijab is, and I would never make a disrespectful comment like that in my life towards someone who is wearing one. I am proud that my closest friends and fans come from all different religions and races, perhaps whoever made up this story should spend more time learning about other cultures and less time trying to divide us. ”
The comment, which became viral, has greatly disturbed the singer, who has already closed this ugly episode after issuing this statement through his personal account on Instagram.
