Celebrity News: Thursday, July 15, 1997, the sun and heat of Miami Beach began their splendor. A traditional breakfast on Ocean Drive gives energies to carry out the daily work. Back in the luxury of a mansion, the unexpected happened. A shot at the nape of the neck, which went out by the neck, was enough to end instantly with 50 years of the life of a fashion empire personified: Gianni Versace.
The body was discovered by the chef of the house, Charles Podesta and by the couple of Gianni, Antonio D ‘Amico.
Andrew Cunanan, a 27-year-old sex worker, was the one who, without words, fired at close range. The police conditions of this man characterized by the violence, since it had a history of four murders. Eight days later, another death was added to one of the fateful media events in fashion: Cunanan’s suicide, after having been surrounded by police in a houseboat.
Further investigation determined that the man committed suicide with the same weapon he used with Versace. Now the big question is why did a sex worker murder the Italian designer? There are several hypotheses. Initially, the security agents handled the motive of theft for being such a celebrity, which also at the time of his murder carried more than $ 1,200 in cash. However, knowing more details about Andrew Cunanan, the hypothesis lost validity.
The four murders previously committed by Cunanan mostly agreed because they were homosexual men with whom he had had some kind of relationship. The crimes gave him a place on the list of the 10 most wanted fugitives by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI for its acronym in English).
It is believed that Cunanan, without hope of escape, decided to close his cycle of violence with a crime that would ensure a mention in the history of Gianni Versace, an international figure and also openly homosexual.
At the scene of the crime, a dead pigeon was found next to the body of the designer, which left a trail of uncertainties.
A book entitled Metastasi by Giuseppe Di Bella, an ex-member of mob groups, said that the murder was due to an account adjustment ordered by Paolo De Stefano, with whom it is believed that the couturier had debts. In addition, it was spread that through the fashion company Versace, the Italian whitened money coming from “dark business.” Faced with this, the family dismissed the accusations as shameful and took legal action against Di Bella.
This led to research on various hypotheses. However, after months of research, no mobile could be confirmed.
Now, 20 years later, the reason for the murder of one of the greatest men in the fashion industry remains a mystery, but someone, again, has opened the case: filmmaker Ryan Murphy.
With a new season of American Crime Story, Murphy will narrate the fatal events that have the characteristics given: an unsolved crime, involved celebrities, and media exposure. Maybe with the audiovisual production, the case will be resolved.
The series will be starred by the Venezuelan Édgar Ramírez, who will incarnate Versace; The actress Penelope Cruz, in the role of Donatella Versace – sister of the designer; Singer Ricky Martin will play the couple’s fashion designer, Antonio D’amico; And Darren Criss will be the serial killer Andrew Cunanan. “Gianni Versace: American Crime Story,” produced by Fox 21 Television Studios and FX Productions, is set to premiere in 2018.
