Celebrity News: A month after his return to the ring, Miguel Cotto follows strictly a strict training regime under the tutelage of Freddie Roach and Gavin McMillan. Cotto is scheduled to face Japanese Yoshihiro Kamegai on Aug. 26 at StubHub Center in Carson, California. The duo will contest the medal junior scepter (154 pounds) of the World Boxing Organization (WBO).
As part of the preparation, Cotto performs a series of exercises in a swimming pool using special additions that generate resistance with water. This is not the first time that Miguel has used such a practice. Since joining Roach in 2013, the pool has been a key element of its preparation. “I feel great, everything is working perfectly at the camp together with Freddie and Gavin at every training session. Freddie has a great strategy and I follow him and I do my best every day in the gym. We hope to have a great victory, “Cotto said in a written statement.
The routine starts at 5:00 a.m. With strength and conditioning exercises with McMillan. The same ones that are carried out in the gym, a swimming pool, on the track or in the nearby hills. As for the diet, Cotto himself takes care of the preparation of his portions. Have breakfast at 8:30 a.m., eat light at 11:15 a.m. And dinner at approximately 5:00 p.m.
“Kamegai is very aggressive and I like that. I think that will serve a good fight because he always goes forward and always seeks the knockout. The one who seeks the knockout is knocked out. So we are working on backfiring and we are doing very well, “Roach concluded.
