The artist shares roles with Cara Delevingne in Luc Besson’s film, which opens in the United States on July 21, 2017.
This Thursday, the production behind the movie “Valerian and the city of a thousand planets” presented its first trailer. And if we had already seen an advance of Cara Delevingne in its role of Laureline, it was lacking to know how Rihanna would be seen in the new film of the director Luc Besson.
In this new preview, you can see the first seconds of the singer as an alien stripper. Even the director promised many surprises in the more than 20 minutes of tape in which the woman of “Work” appears.
In an exclusive interview with Entertainment Weekly, Besson praised Rihanna’s professionalism: “She was very direct with me. She told me ‘I want to learn, I want to work, just let me do it.’ ‘And I must say that she is a great partner.”
“Valerian and the city of a thousand planets” is an adaptation of the graphic novel titled “Valerian and Laureline” by the French writer Pierre Christin and the artist Jean-Claude Mézières, originally published in 1967. The history of this book follows the life of two agents whose mission is to travel in time in search of protecting and saving the planet Earth.
Dane DeHaan (‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’) and Cara Delevingne (‘Suicidal Squad’) play the protagonists, Valerian and Laureline, special agents of the government of human territories, responsible for maintaining order in the universe through Space and time. Valerian has in mind something more a professional relationship with its companion but its long history with the women and the traditional values of Laureline make that it continually rejects to him.
Under the direction of its commander, Valerian and Laureline embark on a mission to the intergalactic city of Alpha, a constantly expanding metropolis where thousands of species coexist from all corners of the universe. The 17 million inhabitants of Alpha join their talents, technologies, and resources for the common good. But not everyone shares the same goal: there are invisible forces working to destroy this order.
This new film by the director of important titles such as “The Fifth Element”, “Lucy” and “La Femme Nikita” features a great cast consisting of Clive Owen, Rihanna, Ethan Hawke, John Goodman and legendary jazz musician Hernie Hancock.
