Harry Styles is very nervous because he launched his first solo song on Friday since the popular band One Direction announced that it would take some time to develop solo projects.
The singer finally featured some of his solo music on Saturday Night Live. The show was performed last Saturday, where he played for the first time his singles: “Ever Since New York” and “Sign of the Times”.
A week ago, Styles revealed his first single “Sign of the Times,” a ballad in which the electric guitar is the lead. “It’s the song I’m most proud to write,” said the 23-year-old.
He was also recently seen hanging from a helicopter, recording what could be the video clip of his first piece of music; and revealed that the entire album was recorded on the island of Jamaica.
A report said his music sounds nothing more and nothing less than the music of David Bowie and Queen. “The main single, which could come out as early as late April or early May, sounds like it’s a hit in any decade,” reporters emphasized a couple of weeks ago.
The debut themes will be part of the singer’s homonymous album, which will contain 10 songs and will premiere on 12 May.
Next April 21 Styles will be featured on the show “The Graham Norton Show”, through the British channel of the BBC.
With the rock ballad “Sign of the Times,” the 23-year-old singer follows in the footsteps of his teammates One Direction Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson, who have performed solo songs over the past year.
Speaking on the Breakfast Show with Nick Grimshaw of BBC Radio 1, Styles, who will appear in the World War II film “Dunkirk,” said he was “nervous” before presenting the song.
“It’s a bit strange, I feel like I’ve been hibernating in the studio for so long. You hear it (the song) in the studio’s safe (…) (and now) it’s time to give birth,” he said.
“Sign of the Times” became a trend on Twitter shortly after the release of the song and continued to lead the mentions for hours.
Liam Payne, another One Direction member who reportedly was releasing a single next month, posted on Twitter a message for Styles: “Proud of you. I’m glad you’re doing something of your own.”
One Direction originally had five members, formed on the British talent show “The X Factor” in 2010 and won legions of fans around the world soon after.
