Big news in hip-hop tours this week, with exciting developments from the tour of one of hip-hop’s biggest stars and one of the genre’s hottest up-and-comers.
- Cole has ramped up the excitement surrounding his ‘4 Your Eyez Only’ tour, set to kick off next month. It was announced last week that J. Cole has enlisted the help of some underground darlings to give his tour an extra boost. The roster includes singer/rapper Anderson .Paak, rappers Bas and J.I.D, and singer Ari Lennox.
Bas, J.I.D and Lennox are all signed to J. Cole’s Dreamville Records, and given the close-knit nature of the collective, it’s a sure bet that fans will be getting more than their money’s worth at these performances. Cole’s last tour, 2015’s ‘Forest Hills Drive’ tour, was the highest-grossing hip-hop tour of the year; with the help of his label mates and collaborators, we might see the ‘4 Your Eyez Only’ tour surpassing its predecessor.
In other tour news, Bronx-based rapper A-Boogie Wit Da Hoodie’s ongoing tour has just added a new date. A-Boogie, whose 2016 debut mixtape propelled him to the head of XXL magazine’s ‘2017 Freshman Class,’ is currently on a North American tour. Last week, it was announced that A-Boogie will be taking his talents across the pond, where he’ll be headlining a set at London’s Electric Brixton club in December of this year.
It is A-Boogie’s first show in the UK since his breakthrough last year, but based on the acclaim his latest EP ‘TBA’ has received, it most certainly won’t be his last.
Hip-hop fans would be well tipped to get their tickets to these shows while they still can; J. Cole’s tour is sure to see a surge in ticket purchases on the back of his latest announcement, and UK hip-hop heads have an opportunity to see one of the future greats for the first time in their homeland.
