Celebrity News: The Everton striker has been released on bail, according to Cheshire police
Everton international striker Wayne Rooney, 31, has been arrested early this morning while driving drunk near his home in Wilmslow, Cheshire County, northwest England, as confirmed by local police in a statement quoted by Reuters. The England captain has been released on bail and will face the Stockport court on 18 December.
“He was arrested at two o’clock today [local time], Friday, September 1, after two officers stopped a black Volkswagen Beetle on Altrincham Road, Wilmslow,” the police statement said. The note adds that he has been accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, after exceeding the limits during an alcohol test.
Wayne Rooney made his 15-year debut with Everton, a club that has returned this summer to deny that his departure from Manchester United and even the selection obeyed that he was a declining player.
The striker announced at the end of August that he will not play again with England, of which he has been captain, because, battered after about 800 official matches between clubs and selection, he says he wants to concentrate his energies in the new time just started with Everton.
Rooney has added 53 goals to the selection, in addition to the 200 he has accumulated in 462 games in the Premier League, where he has also distributed 101 passes that ended in a goal. Everton has yet to react to the player’s arrest
